We where five couples who wanted to go sailing together so the number of cabins where our primary criteria for choosing the boat. This Cyclades 50.5 has five cabins. Two in the fore and two in the aft. It has also a bunk cabin on the port side, and a seperate skippers cabin. Starting a sailing holiday from Poros is good, since you are able to get ahead of the rest of charter boats starting from Athens. For this week we had decided to discover the Argolis gulf. On Saturday we sailed to Dokos and found a nice place to anchor. Early next morning we started sailing towards Monemvasia. We arrived in the afternoon and found a spot for mooring. Unfortunately the got the anchor stuck in a pile of ropes and abandoned anchors. Had to dive down to 4.5 m to get the anchor free. Monemvasia is definitely worth a visit, but be careful where you drop your anchor, Next we sailed to Plaka, Leonidion, via Kyparissi. Some of the crew took a taxi to visit the Elonas monastery, From Plaka we continued to Astros, a small village with a good harbour and a lot of tavernas and small shops. Next leg was from Astros to Ermioni, via Spetses. Spetses is a special place worth visiting. Unfortunately the new bridge is not protected from swell and the old harbour, Baltizas, is often very crowded. From Ermioni we sailed to Hydra, one of our favorites. Finally we sailed to Russian bay, Poros, for a last swim before we returned the boat to Poros. This was the third time we had a boat from Greek Sails. We have always got a good and friendly service from the staff at Greek Sails. They also help you arrange the trip to and from Poros, also from the ferry to the boat. The boat was a bit old, but in good condition and perfect for this crew. Not very fast, but reliable. I can highly recommend Greek Sails.
I was looking for a fairly new yacht for a week of sailing with our friends (5 PAX). I got help in choosing the right boat for sailing from my Account manager, which I'm very grateful of. The yacht was very sensitive to the rudder and we also hired the gennaker, which was perfect since the yacht did have a job and not a genoa. The Alimos marina is big and it was a very hot day in June when we checked in. I don't like this marina very much because the piers are very crowded when all the boats are being cleaned and everyone is cheking in at the same time. But the staff at the check in desk was very friendly and helpful. We did check the yacht with the base manager and also he was very friendly. We got his number so we could ask for help via WhatsApp in case we got any problems during the week. We actually needed some help since the control for the windlass stopped working, but the base manager arranged so we got that fixed in the next harbour. Since we managed to get the boat in time on Saturday, we sailed to Aegina before sunset. Aegina harbour was crowded, but with some help form other sailors, we managed to get in. Next day we sailed via Poros, which is one of our favorite places. In Poros you can choose a quite bay to anchor or you can have the nightlife by the town quay. The third day we went to Hydra, another favorite. It's always exiting entering the crowed harbour and you have to be patient to find a place for mooring. And then there is usually a crossed-anchors-show. Next day we sailed back to Poros to get the remote-control fixed. From there we went to Methana which was a disappointment. Plenty of room, some swell and not much to see there. From there we went back to Poros and Russian bay (where you can order food delivered to your boat). Next stop was Vathi. We came in early and where one of the first to moore in the small harbour. In Vathi we took a taxi up to the volcano and from there we walked all the way back (4.8 km!). Make sure you have plenty of water with you! Next stop was Epidavros, via Sunken City. From Epidavros we took a taxi up to the big amphiteather. For 40(?) euros the taxi will take you there, wait and take you back. Last leg was back to Alimos, with a short stop for snorkeling east of Angistri. Over all we are very satisfied with the boat and the service and we can highly recommend this yacht and the charterer.
Only one things was missing, good coffee
We have a group that have been going to Croatia for the the last four years and have rented boats from a different operator every year. I have to say Pitter were fantastic to rent from. The boat was immaculate even though it's a few years old, it was almost like new and when going over the check in it was clear that the team know the boats inside out. For instance they new that the engine electrics ( made in China) could occasionally give problems so they solved this by adding a waterproof by pass button in the engine bay, which as a seasoned sailor I have never seen, but think it's genius and should be fitted as standard to all boats. The only point I made to our hosts was when we arrived late at the marina the transfer left us outside the marina office and we didn't know where the boat was moored. It only took us 5mins to find it and it was actually all set up ready for us. They actually apologised and said that they would make sure that the info would be stuck on the office door in future. We had a great time and the boat was perfect and the team at Sukosan were really professional. I would highly recommend renting from Pitter again.
Well equiped , Kitchen realated, nice have the side power( thruster) , The main problem is the steering wheel.
Welcome and checking in went fine. Boat was fine apart from not working anchoring light which would not be fixed during 2week rental. Outboard engine was problematic (runned only with chocke - no idle without) but can’t complain about because we didn’t complain until the end. The sole thing that really spoilt the last day was that we were accused of damaging the keel in public, while the damage was already there on previous video. This felt really unprofessional, also because we relied on a checked keel from start. As from now on, we won’t rent a boat anymore without the possibility of a full damage waiver. Kind regards, Pieter & Sofie.
Very professional and nice ground handling from A-Z, super nice crew (skipper and hostess) and boat in very good condition. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Trip was perfect and highly above our expectations. Big thank you to Marin (our Skipper) and Maja (our Chef/Hostess)! You are awesome!
Spartivento is a very professional company. They were very responsive to our emails ahead of the charter, the on-board equipment was very good (safety gear, navigation tools, Nespresso maker, ...). This boat was only 2 weeks old. It was very clean and a joy to sail. I do wish it had a classic mainsail instead of a in-mast furling. We love Beneteau boats though. They are very pleasant and offer great living space both in the cockpit and down bellow. The Aeolian islands are beautiful. The volcano hike in Stromboli is a must. Salina and Panarea stand out among all the islands there.
This boat, S/Y Ermis, was in great condition for its age, and the Yachting Power team were very professional and customer-centred. I loved the in-mast furling, in particular. The charts and pilot guides were excellent. A few changes could change this from a great charter to the perfect charter: 1.. Ermis was equipped with a small Garmin chart plotter by the chart table. While it could be plugged into the helm station, a larger chart plotter integrated into the helm station would be great. 2. Connect GPS into the VHF radio for DSC calling (in the unlikely event of needing to send a mayday) 3. Create a checklist for each boat to use on day 1 when demonstrating all the boat equipment and systems to the skipper, so nothing gets overlooked (every boat has different equipment and systems). I want to thank everyone at Yachting Power for a great holiday!
The boat is in good condition, Although Angro do Heroismo is not a popular marina for charters, we've had a very pleasent time there. It's one day (12-14h) trip to Velas or Horta, where you can stay at the marinas, and take a ferry to Madalena (Pico). There is no outside table on the boat and the anchor is manual, but we didn't need both of them. The charter company staff were polite and helpful.
