Everything that makes the islands so iconic is found here, with the crystal-clear sea, perfectly eroded shoreline and plenty of nooks and crannies to discover making this another must-see destination when you charter a yacht here.

Smuggler’s Cove

Feeling romantic? Want to escape to your own secret haven? Look no further than this serene beach with unforgettable views of the luscious green mountains of Tortola. Smuggler’s Cove is a tranquil corner of the world that is the ideal spot to be at one with nature on the British Virgin Islands. Accessing this beach may prove slightly more difficult than most beaches, but once you arrive and swim with the native sea turtles it will be all worthwhile. This is the perfect starting place to explore some of the BVI’s secret locations on your chartered yacht.

Sailing in the British Virgin Islands

It is no wonder that the British Virgin Islands prove popular with sailors – the unparalleled weather, reliable trade winds and stunning coastline render it a sailor’s paradise. When you choose to charter a yacht here, avoid hurricane season which occurs between June and November. Instead, opt for early spring to get some enviable sunshine and temperatures in the low-30s. Trade winds prevail from a north-easterly direction and average 15 to 20 knots during early springtime – ideal sailing conditions. You can also avail of the vast array of anchorages dotted throughout the British Virgin Islands, meaning you can truly explore every corner of this beautiful paradise.

Adrenaline-Pumping Watersports

When it comes to the best place for watersports, the British Virgin Islands surely fits the bill. The warm turquoise waters, unparalleled sunshine and vast array of watersport activities means you will never be stuck for something to do. Jump in off your chartered yacht and swim amongst the sea life of the Caribbean. Test your balance skills with paddle boarding, take to the sky with some Kiteboarding or explore smaller corners of the British Virgin Islands on your own kayak. This is the perfect location to jump in and get involved.

Stay on Dry Land

Fancy a break from the ocean? Dock your yacht in one of the British Virgin Islands’ countless marinas and journey throughout the luscious landscape of the islands. Nature trails and hikes offer great views of the gorgeous coastline, with Gorda Peak National Park being a particularly impressive spot. Prickly Pear Island is home to another enjoyable hike, while Sage Mountain National Park offers a new environment brimming with wildlife. What better way to work up an appetite than an exploration of the islands’ natural terrain?

Island Flavours

Fresh produce and a signature flair makes the selection of restaurants, bars, and taverns on the British Virgin Islands second to none. Peter Island is home to the iconic Tradewinds restaurant, and the tranquil Deadman’s Beach Bar and Grill. Try some of the exquisitely prepared smoke ribs, which perfectly infuse sweet mango BBQ sauce to create something simply scrumptious. On Tortola, the lauded chef Imran Ashton has prepared an exquisite menu featuring classic island dishes with unexpected overseas influences. Why not take a drink back to your yacht to watch the sun set over one of the most beautiful corners of the world?

How to Get to the British Virgin Islands

The British Virgin Islands are connected through extensive transport networks by air and by sea making the journey to your chartered yacht stress-free. The main airport on the BVI, Terrence B. Lettsome Airport, does not have routes arriving from airports in the USA, Europe, or Canada, however you can fly into another Caribbean destination – for example Saint Thomas or Puerto Rico – and avail of a connecting flight from there. The BVI also has airports in Anegada and Virgin Gorda meaning you can fly into the airport that is most convenient for you. If you are arriving by sea, there are numerous ports in Tortola, Jost Van Dyke and Virgin Goda. Please be aware of the customs and immigration process that is associated with this form of entry.
